As a reminder, U.S. and foreign facilities for human and animal food must renew their registration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration before December 31st, provided they are required to register.
The FDA stated in a news release that if the facility fails to renew its registration by the deadline date, the agency will deem the facility’s registration as expired.
Per the agency, there are no fees attached when it comes to renewing or even registering, for that matter. Food facility owners and operators are required to electronically submit their renewal information using their FDA Industry Systems account. The exception to this is if they have received a waiver allowing them to use paper submission.
Beginning this year, the release stated that in regards to the registration submission, all facilities are required to include a one-of-a-kind facility identifier recognized that the FDA recognizes as acceptable.
